";" is the "pick up nearest item" buttom by default I beleive, but you can set it to alot of buttons

Beleive me they can click 1 button MUCH faster than you can move your mouse to it and click on it.

the misery of others warms my heart.

Yes, people do get crazy as soon as a shard/ecto drops.

Even this morning, I did a ToA run to the fissure- some necro went afk and we got tired of waiting for him... so we go and kill some mobs... one drops a Shard for guess who?

It was impossible to get half of the team to stop spamming space bar for 10 minutes... and guess what... NPC died and no one got it. Justice served.

It never fails! It was a lot of fun in the Dragon Event, i just stood there by the henchman and as soon as a present dropped jus ç, spacebar. Most ppl trying to fight with me for the presents just quited after some time.
I wish I knew that during the event...oh well, red bean cake + nimble fingers ftw anyway XD

i had just finished fow with a pug (well finished being forgemaster, you know how it is). me, a mesmer, and a ranger were the only ones left, selling stuff and whatnot. the mes had just bought her first piece of armor, boots i believe. she dropped them to show us the stats, though we didnt ask her to so idon't know why she did. the ranger picked them up, made a shocked-type smiley, and left the party.
we pm'ed him for a long long time and she reported him.
what i don't get is, the boots aren't worth anything to this guy at all, yet are extremely valuable to her. not like he could wear them or even get very much for them from a merchant. this was simply mean and i still feel bad for that poor mes

Obsidian armor has the chance to salvage into ectos/shard, and sometimes a considerable number (>5 ectos or something).
